A brokerage built around the client experience.
Cohen Mortgage was founded by people who've spent the better part of two decades inside the mortgage industry — and decided to build the kind of brokerage they always wished existed.
Built from two decades of doing it the other way.
Before founding Cohen Mortgage in 2023, our president Eddie Cohen spent nearly two decades inside the mortgage industry—starting at a high-volume call-center brokerage, then ten years underwriting loans at two different banks, then seven more as a sales manager at a regional independent mortgage bank.
Two decades of seeing the industry from every angle taught him what works, what doesn't, and—most importantly—what clients actually need that they're rarely getting: better pricing, better programs, and genuine concierge-level service from someone who answers their own phone.
So in June 2023, Cohen Mortgage was founded around that idea. A brokerage where clients aren't files in a queue. Where every conversation happens directly with an experienced advisor. Where complex situations get the time and care they require—and simple ones still feel personal.

Two ends of the spectrum, handled with the same care.
Cohen Mortgage is built to serve the borrowers most often underserved—first-time buyers who deserve a real explanation, and complex earners who deserve someone who actually understands their situation.
First-Time Buyers Who Need to Be Walked Through It
Buying your first home is a significant moment. We don't rush. We explain pre-approval, escrow, mortgage insurance, closing costs, and every other piece of the process in plain English—as many times as you need to hear it. The handholding isn't a service tier. It's the standard.
Complex Income Scenarios That Other Lenders Punt On
Self-employed with multiple businesses. Rental property income across an LLC structure. Trust income, K-1s, bonus and commission earners. We've underwritten thousands of these files and we know how to structure them—where another lender might tell you "it's complicated," we tell you what's possible.
The way we'd want to be treated.
These aren't taglines. They're the actual guardrails we hold ourselves to on every loan.
Knowledgeable Without Ego
Deep industry expertise, explained plainly. We never make clients feel small for asking questions—no matter how basic. Every question deserves a real answer, and the explanation matters more than the jargon.
Calm and Steady
Mortgages are significant decisions. We hold a composed pace so you can think clearly, not one that rushes you toward a close. Your timeline, not ours.
Direct and Honest
If a loan isn't right for you, we'll tell you. If market conditions suggest waiting, we'll say so. We've turned down deals that didn't serve our clients, and we'll do it again. Straight answers, even when they cost us business.
Built for the Long Run
Most of our business comes from past clients and the people they refer. That's by design. We work for the second loan, the third loan, and the conversation you have with your sister-in-law—not just the file in front of us.
What "concierge" actually means here.
The word gets thrown around. We mean it specifically: you'll get the cell number of the person handling your loan. You'll get a real explanation of every disclosure before you sign it. You'll get returned calls within hours, not days. You'll get a coordinator who knows your file and an advisor who knows your situation.
We kept the team deliberately small for that reason. Every client has direct access. Nothing gets handed off without your knowledge. The process feels personal because, structurally, it is.
The kind of files we say yes to.
"Too complicated" isn't a phrase we use lightly. Multiple businesses, partial-year income, K-1 partnerships, trust distributions, recently changed careers—these are scenarios we've seen many times before, not exceptions we have to research from scratch.
Twenty years of underwriting and originating files across banks, mortgage banks, and now a brokerage means we know which programs accommodate which situations, and which lenders have the appetite to actually fund them. That's the difference between an advisor who says "let me look into it" and one who already knows.
Meet the team.
Every advisor at Cohen is a licensed originator with years of experience. Get to know the people who'll actually be on the phone with you.
